When’s the right time to deal with porn?

I’ll deal with it when
…I’m dating.
…we’re engaged.
…we’re married.
…it hurts her.
…I get caught.
…we have kids.
… I have a girl.
… the kids are old enough to know.
… my son starts struggling too.

I’d deal with it if
…she leaves me.
…it affects my work, my ministry.
…it gets as bad as *that* dude.
…it wasn’t so hard.
…it hadn’t been a problem for so many years.
…it wasn’t so embarrassing.
…I wasn’t so broken.
…I wasn’t alone.
…God would help me.
…there was a God.

I’ll deal with it when life – these lies – becomes unmanageable.

  1. “I’ll deal with it when life – these lies – becomes unmanageable.”

Isn’t this how it works most times concerning recovery from any hurt, hang-up and habit? It gets to a point in life where we simply realize, “I’m living in insanity…and my life has become unmanageable. I simply am sick and tired of being sick and tired.” I notice, however, so many people coming even to this point…engaging in recovery (from anything)…and halfway through (usually when they must face their ugly), they up and quit; only to enter back into the familiar, comfortable insanity that they were sick and tired of in the first place. It saddens me when I see this happen, but boy…do I celebrate when I see someone press through, even through every ugly challenge they encounter on their recovery road!

Crazy we must come to a point where we recognize…”My life has become unmanageable, and I just can’t do it alone anymore; I need help!” But mercy, what a blessing it is when we do…and we keep walking through it even when the hard and ugly surface.

    1. Great thoughts Marni, sometimes it takes a few starts and stops. It’s hard to realuze the truth, that you can’t do it alone, but what a blessibg it is to find you’re not alone. I hope you’re having a great summer. Thanks for stopping by the blog.
